Flatiron Kitchen is the collective brainchild of childhood friends Jordan Gaspar and Danika Charity.  After meeting in elementary school in Manhattan, our love of food and wine and dedication to precise entertaining brought us together in many collaborations including working with a prominent non-profit based here in the city.  In the summer of 2009, we “jumped into the kitchen” founding Flatiron Kitchen, a boutique catering company serving fresh, creative, seasonal cuisine using market vegetables and other ingredients that are sourced locally wherever possible.

Jordan Gaspar, President:

After practicing corporate law for the past several years and advising clients on mergers, acquisitions and public offerings, Jordan decided to turn her love of great food and wine into a career.  Jordan’s love of food is inspired by her extensive world travel as well as from the culinary arts she practices while entertaining in her own home here in New York City.  While developing Flatiron Kitchen, Jordan drew upon her legal career to establish a client-centric approach focused on the details.  She has the unique ability to transform a client’s initial concept into a magnificent, tangible culinary experience.  Her creative approach to event planning and her dedication to aesthetic presentation have become synonymous with the Flatiron Kitchen experience.

Danika Charity, Executive Chef:

After working in non-profit fundraising and events, Danika realized she was on the wrong side of the event and left to pursue her calling in the kitchen.  After training in traditional French cuisine and patisserie at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, Danika worked at the Michelin starred gastronomic bistro Le Violon d’Ingres and Parisian mainstay L’Osteria, breaking solely to work as a private chef on the island of St Barth in the French West Indies.  Danika has traveled all over the world learning about various culinary traditions and the methodology to incorporate these traditions into a new American cuisine. Through our catering, Danika executes American food with classic French technique and nuances of ethnic flavors to modernize the classic foods that we have grown to love.
